SEAMEC is currently seeking volunteers as we gear up for the 2009 election season. Public officials who are elected this year will be making decisions about your healthcare, your family, your future - and now is the time to get involved!
Would you like to help decide what questions we should ask candidates? Join our questionnaire committee and let us know what you think is important.
Do you wonder what politicians are like in person? Come meet face-to-face with candidates and ask them where they stand on LGBT issues! We need volunteers to help interview candidates.
Would you like to help get the word out about which candidates are supportive and which are hostile? Sign up to help distribute the SEAMEC ratings.
We've seen some positive steps on LGBT issues over the past couple years, and now we need to keep up the momentum. Please email (using the form at the right) to volunteer.
Judicial Review

SEAMEC has been sought after for our ratings of judicial candidates for nearly twenty years. Although judges do get in the news, there are few resources to inform voters about local judges. Those resources shrank further as we teamed up with QLaw, to publish their reviews of judicial candidates.
SEAMEC Needs a Permanent Interview Coordinator

SEAMEC hasn’t always conducted candidate interviews, but doing so has become an integral part to how we’ve developed these ratings for most of our history. Expanding on the interviews, SEAMEC started publishing letter grades sixteen years ago in addition to the overall numerical rating. This breakdown provided further information about the candidates' performance on various issues during their in-person interview. Reliably allowing this has grown to be a major responsibility for an Interview Coordinator.
But in 2008 we chose to refrain from interviewing candidates because an Interview Coordinator costs us $3000 for 6 months of work. This was a cost that we did not recover in donations in 2007. So, for the first time since 1992, the rating sheets only included the numerical rating of each candidate.
